Antelope Island State Park, Utah Film Anniversary Session | Nancy + Brandt

Updated: May 10, 2021

ALL FILM ANNIVERSARY SESSION

You guys! I'm SO EXCITED to share this anniversary session I photographed at Antelope Island with Nancy + Brandt. I had the hardest time narrowing down my favorites on this one... (best problem ever!)

All film scans by the best lab ever: The Find lab

If you're new to the blog you'll see that I love to do a simple Q&A with couples so we can all get to know them better! Here's a few questions I got to ask Nancy + Brandt to celebrate their 1 Year Wedding Anniversary!

Q: How did you guys meet?

A: We met on Twitter! Brandt tweeted "I really want to take a girl golfing". I favorited it, the rest is history

Q: How long have you been together & what wedding anniversary is this for you guys?

A: We have been together 8 years, and this is wedding anniversary number 1!

Q: First date? A: As you may have guessed from answer 1, he took me golfing! I also kicked his butt.

Q: Favorite memory from your wedding day?

A: Our favorite memory would have to be just finally seeing each other at the end of the isle. It was a long day full of unknowns (Covid), so that was a great feeling of "this is it!" Q: Favorite adventure, hike, activity to do together in Utah?

A: We both tend to be home bodies, especially now that Brandt works super long hours away from home. So our favorite thing we like to do together is order takeout, get cozy, and watch our shows.

Q: Nancy, what's your favorite thing about Brandt?

A: My favorite thing about Brandt would have to be his way of pulling me out of a funk or bad day with his goofiness. Q:And Brandt, what's your favorite thing about Nancy?

A: My favorite thing about Nancy is her quirkiness, behind closed doors she can be the goofiest and funniest person in the World. Q:Has being married changed anything in your relationship? A: Being married has not changed a ton, since we have been together for so long, but it has definitely brought us closer and has made us become more of a unit and team. Q: OK, I know you have a dog and I can't do a Q&A without asking about your dog.. tell us all about him / her

A: ohhhh Coda. He is a big 80 lb mutt that stole our hearts right after high school. He can be the BEST and the WORST all at the same time. He is loyal, sweet, protective and a big ol goof.. but to strangers, he is really intimidating and scary lol even though he wouldn't hurt a soul. Q: Any special / favorite moments as Husband and Wife?

A: Winning a two night getaway in a unique treehouse AirBnB in Park City. It was spectacular. Q:What's next for you guys? (Any trips in the future, career goals, you name it!)

A: I think the next biggest step for us will be growing our family and getting into a house of our own.

Looking to have your photo session at Antelope Island State Park?

Here's what you need to know!

  • Getting there: Antelope Island State Park is located in Syracuse, Utah - that's about 40-45 minutes north of Salt Lake City. Once you hit the city of Layton you will simply take the Antelope Drive exit (exit #332) and drive straight west! Easy peasy

  • How much does the entrance fee cost? It cost $15 per vehicle to enter the park (no re-entry) There is a parking area immediately before the entrance gate, on the south side of the road. I recommend meeting your photographer there and following each other in.

  • Best time of year to shoot there: My personal favorite timeframes are Mid March - Early April and the Fall! During warm months, the bugs start to come out at the Island and the absolute worst time is late April when the Biting Gnats hatch. Fun fact: Insect repellent is ineffective against the gnats.

  • What kind of wildlife will I see on the Island? Antelope Island is most kown for their American Bison (don't forget these animals are dangerous and you'll want to stay far away from them, or better yet. Enjoy seeing them from your car!) Other wildlife you'll see on the Island include: pronghorn, bighorn sheep, porcupine, badger, coyote, bobcat, mule deer, and millions of waterfowl

  • Can I bring my dog? Yes, however they can not be left unattended and must be on a leash!

This next set was really fun! I gave Nancy one of my Polaroid Camera's and she directed and photographed a portrait of Brandt... Enjoy!

To end our session we headed off to Lady Finger Point!

This is one of the most popular trailheads in the park. In my opinion it's best for rock climbing and of course, epic views.
